Welcome to Year 3/4 Class Page!
In Year 3/4, we provide a supportive, engaging and ambitious learning environment where every child is encouraged to Strive for Excellence. We want pupils to become increasingly independent learners who are confident to ask questions, share ideas, persevere when learning is challenging and take pride in their achievements.
Community and collaboration are important parts of life in our classroom. Children have regular opportunities to work together, discuss their learning and support one another. We encourage pupils to show respect and kindness towards others and to recognise that everyone has something valuable to contribute.
We want pupils to develop aspiration and confidence, while understanding that success often comes through effort, practice and perseverance.
Reading
Reading is at the heart of Weston Point Primary Academy and remains a key priority throughout Key Stage 2.
Children should bring their reading book and reading record into school every day. This enables staff to read with children, monitor their progress and make use of reading opportunities throughout the school day.
We strongly encourage regular reading at home. As well as helping children develop fluency and comprehension, reading widely introduces pupils to new vocabulary, knowledge, ideas and experiences. We want our children to become enthusiastic readers who choose to read for both learning and enjoyment.
PE
Our PE day is Thursday.
Pupils should have the correct PE kit in school and be prepared to participate fully. Through PE, children develop physical competence alongside teamwork, communication, perseverance and respect for others.
