PSHE, Relationships and Health Education

At Weston Point Primary Academy, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education is central to our commitment to developing the whole child. Our ambition is to equip pupils with the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to lead safe, healthy, happy and fulfilling lives. Our PSHE curriculum supports pupils in developing positive relationships, understanding themselves and others, making informed choices and becoming responsible members of their community.

We use the Kapow Primary RSE and PSHE curriculum, ensuring our provision reflects current statutory Relationships and Health Education requirements. Learning develops progressively and includes relationships and families, physical and mental health and wellbeing, personal safety, the changing body, citizenship, economic wellbeing, identity and preparation for transition. Important concepts are revisited at an age-appropriate level so that children's knowledge and understanding become increasingly sophisticated as they move through school.

Our PSHE curriculum is closely connected to the values and culture of Weston Point Primary Academy. We teach pupils to demonstrate respect, kindness and inclusivity; to persevere when things are difficult; to aspire for their future; and to understand the importance of community and collaboration. Pupils are given safe opportunities to discuss questions, develop emotional literacy and learn how and when to seek help. Safeguarding is embedded throughout our approach. Our aim is for every child to leave Weston Point confident in themselves, respectful of others and equipped to make positive and informed choices as they move into the next stage of their lives.
