Class 8

Welcome to Class 8

Class Teacher: Miss Guy

Teaching assistants: Mrs Jones and Ms Goodier

Welcome to our Class 8 page!

In Class 8, we provide a nurturing, structured and supportive environment where learning is carefully tailored to the individual needs of our pupils. We have high expectations while recognising that every child may require different approaches, adaptations and levels of support to help them succeed.

We place a strong emphasis on wellbeing, communication, independence and confidence. Inclusivity is central to our approach and we want every pupil to feel valued, respected and able to participate meaningfully in school life.

Community and collaboration are also important within Class 8. Pupils are supported to build positive relationships, work alongside others and develop their communication and cooperation skills. We celebrate perseverance, kindness and individual achievement, helping pupils to develop confidence and aspiration at a level that is appropriate to them.

Reading

Reading is an important part of learning in Class 8 and is promoted throughout the school day.

Children should bring their reading book into school every day so that staff can use appropriate opportunities to read with them and support their individual reading development.

Reading activities are adapted according to each child's needs and starting points. We aim to build confidence, fluency, understanding and enjoyment through appropriate texts, repetition, discussion and regular opportunities to experience books and stories.

Above all, we want our pupils to develop positive associations with reading and to recognise books as a source of enjoyment, information and communication.

PE

Our PE day is Tuesday.

PE activities are adapted appropriately so that all pupils can participate meaningfully and successfully. Sessions support physical development as well as communication, cooperation, confidence, wellbeing and enjoyment.
